Everard Read curates the art collection for a new hotel in Florence

June 21, 2025

"Any Florentine hotel should have art at its heart, and Collegio alla Querce Auberge is home to an astonishing collection."

Everard Read had the great privilege of assembling and curating the core art collection for Collegio alla Querce, a new luxury hotel in Florence, offering all the pleasures of a refined, country home. The hotel, which opened in March 2025, is part of the Leeu Collection and operated by Auberge Resorts.

Writing in Conde Nast Traveller, acclaimed British writer, Stanley Stewart, notes that “Any Florentine hotel should have art at its heart, and Collegio alla Querce Auberge is home to an astonishing collection, with hundreds of pieces: contemporary canvases, ceramics, sculpture at every turn. I loved the geometries and deconstructed maps of South African artist, Gerhard Marx. My room had a wonderful painting by Nigel Mullins that grew on me day by day. I took a different route to dinner every evening just to see the breadth of the collection.” (Conde Nast Traveller, May | June 2025)

Analjit Singh, owner of Collegio alla Querce and Leeu Collection, is a passionate art collector who wanted the collection to include some of his favourite artists. His vision made this a very personal art journey.
